Some hands in life are better or easier to play than others. Life’s challenges and difficulties can be overcome with determination, hard work, education etc. Everyone is capable of success, but for many who haven’t learned better, it’s much easier to complain, wallow in self-pity or blame someone else for failures instead of embracing a learning/growth mentality and trying again. This is what most people fail to teach their children. They lack grit, perspective, and or sometimes ability.

My parents both came from immigrant families and were poor growing up. My dad worked two jobs and my mom also worked in order to get me and my siblings a private school education and demonstrated the importance of hard work to be successful. They taught us to always think for the future instead of the immediate. My sister and I both attended college and both of my siblings and I are relatively successful because of what was demonstrated by my parents.

I’m fortunate to have had this in my life. Not all children experience this from their parents, which places them at a disadvantage. They will either learn through making mistakes or never learn at all. The cycle then continues.
