"Of course the truth is work hard, be respectful, learn, grow, go to college, maintain work ethic for your entire life, and you will prosper in this country. The other truth is blame others, avoid learning, dwell in bad habits, avoid self improvement, be mopey, and your life will suck. Stop blaming government, blame yourself and your life choices. If you want government to fix this, the only tools are more taxes and or socialism."
This is the perspective of most Republicans, Conservatives, (and yes, even Trump Supporters cause that's all we've got right now) - at least the ones in my circle of friends.
Individual responsibility for your own success (a valid recipe quoted above). Help those that need help but don't reward laziness and irresponsibility or it will only create more dependency. I'm the first to help others in need but wouldn't even give $$ to my own kids (they don't need it) if they were to just waste it and show no initiative to improve their own abilities to earn and improve their life.
I don't think government can fix problems people are not willing to work to fix themselves.
BTW - HS diploma, first-quarter college drop out, but make over $200K/yr due to hard work and self-reliance.
