The problem is that “defunding the police” isn’t a valid strategy to solve those problems mentioned above. Departments must prioritize enforcement appropriately. “Defunding Police” should actually be “Fund Mental Health and community resources” which would be a proactive way to address the problems before they reach the magnitude of involving the police.

Many departments aren’t properly funded to begin with and lack adequate enforcement for their areas. Defunding them won’t solve many problems. Some departments misappropriate funding into the places money shouldn’t go. Departments should be allocating money to match the needs of their specific communities which will look different from region to region.
