In 1950 (I was 12 at the time) I went into Willie's Sport Shop in Centralia to look at
baseball gloves. Little League was just getting started. Willie waited on me. I
found one I liked and he asked if I wanted it. I said yes but I didn't have the
money for it. He asked if I could pay $1 a week. It was $10 or $12 as best I can
remember. I said I thought I could. I don't remember signing anything. I may have
given my name. He got the money and much more over time. I moved in 1970, but
the shop is still there. I bought almost all my fishing tackle there. Oakies by the
100.
