Skydrifterdave, The cable hole to high bridge (big eddy) drift is what I would call fairly technical, that is not for novice rowers. If you’re comfortable on the sticks and use you head you’ll do fine, probably. This section is kinda like the middle Sol Duc. Lots of rocks to get around in fast water. Lots of maneuvering in fast water. There are about five sections like this with the worst being the second one leading into “house rock”. More than one boat has been lost here. The last section going into big eddy looks bad but if you go “river left” its ok, go “river right” and you’ve got problems. The other problem with this section is there is a lot of bank access. Being so close to Reiter this means lots of bank anglers. I drifted it last Saturday and there wasn’t one drift that I could plug because of bank anglers. It’s ok if you want to spot your boat and cast. A mid-week drift might be a better idea. Have heard of reports of tires getting slashed by bankies who thought the drift boater violated their space. The higher the flow the less rocks you hit but the more dangerous the fast sections get. Bottom line this section is not for newbies.
