This is primarily directed at Snohomish county fishers but anyone going to be in the area next month is welcome to attend. I am trying to put together a native plant salvage for the 17th of March. This salvage will take place on a 40 acre parcel of land the county owns east of Lk. Stevens on the Machias Rd. This salvage is being sponsored by the Snohomish County Native Plant Program Being that all Snohomish County rivers will close to steelhead the end of this month there should be a lot of fishers with some free time on their hands. The salvage will take place from 0900-1430 hrs. The plants salvaged from this site will be held until this fall(to ensure they survive the transplanting) then used at various stream/wetland restoration projects throughout the county. The plants are plentiful and the digging is for the most part easy. All you need to provide is a pair of gloves, lunch, and the desire to play in the dirt for the day. This is a fantastic way to meet fellow fishers, save native plants from the bulldozer, and in the long run help fish. If you want to participate contact me via email(chumkiller@yahoo.com) as early as possible so I can ensure adequate shovels and pots will be on hand and provide you with directions to the site.
