I usually use clear bobbers, so I see that happen alot. I have seen silvers in a slow water frenzy strike the bobber repeatedly. I think they smell the bait and it gets them excited, I don't know what they think the bobber is. I also have gotten alot of blasts from smallmouth while fishing for squawfish on the columbia.
