I use mesh all the time on loose eggs, and sometimes on skein. The bags do hold together nice, and you will get way more life out of a bag than skein. You can cast a bag dozens of times before replacing it. The mesh comes in many colors: white, blue, red, orange, cerise, and chartreuse. You can change the size of bags from smaller than a dime to as big as a golf ball. The fish do seem to get the mesh hung up in their teeth, and I think it helps a little bit on some garden slug hook sets. When we fish in very cold water (i.e 34 degrees) we down size our bags o about 5 eggs, fish them on a size 8 hook, and float the frog water with tiny floats. It's tought to pull this off with skein.

The drawback is that it is messy, and time consuming. You are basically adding one more step after the curing process. Hope this helps you out.
