Hey Snapper,
Nothing personal, but I have a big issue when anyone starts to generalize about police. Many of us have friends, and family who are in that line of work, or we have done that kind of work in the past. It is an extremely hard job that doesn't have a lot of perks to it. Are there some jerks out there, sure there are.
The only time people celebrate the actions of the police is when they catch some murderer or rapist, or when they help deliver someone's baby on the side of the road.
When they pull over some escaped felon who, has been committing crime since he was 15, is high as a kite, tries to run from the police, drags an officer down the road for a while, and the officers end up shooting the guy, the officers are the ones who are villified by a segment of our society. That is just not right.
These teenagers were part of a leadership group. What fact makes them immune from the law. They're teenagers? Asian? There are 14 of them? They are part of a leadership group? Just how long do you think it takes to ID and control 14 people? Now try writing it all down as well. Three minutes per person sounds reasonable, even pretty fast.
Ask yourself what kind of society you want to live in. Teach your kids to respect the law and those who enforce it, and hopefully you won't ever get a call in the middle of the night to come down and pick up your kids at the police station or jail. Rich G is right on the money when he says that problem children really have problem parents. Be a great example to your kids because they are always watching what you do, even if you don't think they are.
If you speed and get caught, take the ticket like a man. It would be a great example to your kids that you respect the law, and that they should, too. What kind of example are some of these other folks being for their kids?
Zozo, I have a client who was an ironworker from Chicago, actually he was a foreman, and I look forward to meetings with Ed 'cause he has some of the best stories you have ever heard. I have to agree with you on that one.
Now, let's get back to fishing. Andy
