Don't make this harder than it is. Just take a small rubber band (the green ones that come around your morning paper are the best) tie a half in inch on your mainline where your stopper needs to be, and then clip the ends of the rubber band off. Leave a small amount of over hang on each "knub" so that you can tighten the ends with your teeth if the stopper starts to slip by the end of the day. I usually tie two stoppers in a row so that you can fish days with no slippage.
