After going back and forth for awhile I finally tried this. When my fishing buddy returned to his truck to retrieve his lunch I first pulled about 15 feet of line off his reel and snipped it. I then reeled it back on to his drift gear. I then tightened the adjustment on his baitcaster. The results were pretty funny. The first cast went about 5 feet. He grumbled and cussed his reel and cast for a second time. His terminal gear flew over the hole, over the opposite bank and about 50 feet up into the trees. His reaction was total dumbfoundment as he stood frozen in position trying to process what had just happened. I almost wet my waders.
