Well, of course, it's not very funny when you're having one of those days when nothing sticks. This was happening to me on the Columbia, where fish after fish after fish would hit hard, strip the herring and was gone. After a while, I wasn't even bothering to say "fish on". And YES the hooks were needle sharp - they even had a modified barb. I noticed a buddy in another boat had 3 hooks on his herring leader and I accused him of cheating. He pointed out that it was legal. I checked and he was right. So I tied up 3 hook leaders with the 2 trailing hooks seated in opposite sides of the herring near the tail. I continued to lose fish - but I felt like I was doing everything possible.

I DO have days when every fish seems to stick.

I guess my point of writing this is to point out to anyone who might not know that 3 hooks on a leader is legal.
