If you tune up your car you can tune up an outboard motor. I leave my motor hanging on the back of the boat. If I need to test fire the motor I have a 40 gallon garbage on wheels filled with water, this works like a champ.
I have a 15hp Yamaha 4 stroke, it is just like a car motor. Just read your manual and it should tell you how to do everything, the basics any way. You might need to buy some tools in odd sizes, I had to buy a 17mm socket for my plugs and a special oil filter wrench.

If you use your motor alot like I do you will save yourself a ton of cash doin' you own tune ups and oil changes. cool
