They work great. I have had great luck with marabou style in various colors for both winter and summer fish. I let them slide on the hook - I think the foam head makes them float well and I have not experienced any problems fishing them in this manner.

Don't add oil to them or they will clump up taking away from the action. Try adding a shrimp tail or piece of prawn to the hook.
