It was a very wet but fun day. As for any fish on the lower Satsop it was like a desert. When local experts like Doug (FH5) and local guide Don (Outdoorsman) don't touch a fish, it's slow! Don shut his motor off and backdrag 'dogged some of the best slots and no fish appreared on his fish finder. Two crews took out for the Chehallis for 3 or 4 hours fishing. We took Mike and Marsha's new sled (AuntyM - Shane along too) out to fish in the area off the 'Sop mouth and up the 'hallis a mile or so. I hooked one on a jig and got the steelhead near the net; as I lifted it's head toward the net the hook pulled out of a chrome hen (8 to 9 lbs.). That kind of day. Had bent the hook on a snag earlier and just bent it back. The exception to slow fishing was that Don and Greg took out and drove up to launch 15 miles or so up river to work over some holed up fish to catch; that Don has been fishing on lately (can't say where). The others, including TM and FJ and Gooose, along with Doug and Mike's sled stayed and fished the lower 'Sop without a bite, until we regrouped a 3 p.m. Sometimes there's just a lull in the run, in sections of rivers. The best part was having fun with the other fisher friends - as always.
It's nice to know there will be no shortage of fish at F4.
