I was invited to a G.Loomis get together this week to brainstorm on new and existing Steelhead and Salmon rods. They are looking at expanding their line of rods and wanted some input from some local tackle reps, guides and anglers. They will continue to have GLX rods and next year you will probably see more of them as well as a larger selection of Steelhead/Salmon rods to choose from including one or more float/jig rods. Other possibilities discussed is an 1141S in GL2 material, an 1143C in IMX material and maybe an 1145C(9 1/2 foot, 8-17 line). They also discussed all the different colors of the GL2's with the possibilty of going back to one color(probably the merlot red)though the sales of the GL2's with the variety of colors had jumped significantly over the previous year. They had 3 meeting total, one in California, one in Oregon and the one in Seattle. We'll know more in Nov. of this year what the decision will be as to the new rods for next season.
