There is a little cog that needs to be around one of the wheels on the handle axle. The cog is about 3/8 inch long, has two copper wings on it surrounding the steel piece in the center. This piece needs to be installed with the copper wings on each side of the wheel with the notches in it. It needs to be put in in the direction so that when the spool tries to let line, the cog catches one of those notches. Since this is the piece that causes the antireverse, my guess is that it is either in backwards, or you don't have the wings installed correctly around the wheel.
