according to a recent survey of voters that voted in the the 2004 election 22 percent of americans believe that the rapture will happen in their lifetimes. Another 22 percent believe it will probably happen in their lifetimes.

Given this idea, what incentive do these people have to form, maintain and participate in a society that can perpetuate itself?

Answer: none, of course. God is going to take the reightous believers from the earth and leave the rest of us sinners to live with the remains of this used and abused planet.
