Using the TK perspective on Arabs, Israel will never know security until all of planet Earth's one billion Muslims are killed. Since it's physically impossible to do that without killing at least as many interspersed non-Muslims and enraging most other ethnic and religious persuasions, one could conclude that Israel will never know a secure existance.

If the alternate belief that many or most Muslims don't care one way or the other about Israel is true, or wouldn't if they didn't associate Israel with the practice of state sponsored terrorism against Palestinians, then Israel could conceivably achieve a comfortable degree of security by working as hard at achieving for the moderate Palestinians what they wish to achieve for themselves - and of course, the same applies to the Palestinians. However, in the years I've observed the situation, it's been mostly a one way street, going Israel's direction. i.e., Israel's recent actions have included shooting missles at suspected terrorist hideouts that are known to be inhabited by non-combatant women and children. Call it collatoral damage, but it's what keeps from winning the hearts and minds of Arabs that would otherwise be more than willing to be moderate in their views.

Aunty is correct that some Arab group is always going to start stuff with Israel, whether Israel appears to be moderating or not. I doubt that can be eliminated any time soon. But the only way it can be reduced is for Israel, and unfortunately the U.S. and Britain, to address the root causes of Arab hostility toward Israel - the lost lands and resources of Palestinians. Doing that will not eliminate Arab hostility because it rooted more deeply for extremists, but that's the primary factor motivating most Arab hostility toward Israel. And altho difficult, and since it's the only thing that's gonna' reduce Arab hatred of Israel (and the US and Britain), it's gotta' be easier than the impossible alternatives they've been trying.

As for the Horowitz article, I suppose he didn't notice the Israeli missles (made in USA) raining down in civilian occupied and Hezbollah-controlled Beruit. And the least he could do as a full fledged member of Bush's flock of sheep is acknowledge the two newest democracies in the Middle East, created at substantial US lives and expense. Talk about somebody being a tool.
