Make sure your line is the thin stuff. They sell both fat and thin. When fishing 450-650 feet deep you will need 3-4 lbs of lead with any current. The fat 80 lb has too much drag. Spend the extra money the first time or you will be buying it later anyway. It makes that big of a difference. At the cost of a BC trip, don't scrimp here. Don't take the wearing gloves lightly with thin line. Deep cuts heal really slowly in saltwater while fishing the rest of your trip in pain.
