Kid Sauk,
Thanks for the additional info regarding the drift. Unfortunately by the time I read this we were on our way winging it. It's good to know what the total mileage is for both of those drifts you mentioned-thanks again! We did the Sultan to Ben Howard drift. We started at around noon time and pulled out at dark -the last boat... Plently of rain off and on all day -mostly on though.... and visibility was around 2ft and the water depth in my waders was rising to 200cfs approaching flood stage. The river was running at around 6,000cfs when we headed out. We were flyfishing so we concentrated our efforts close to shore looking for the fish hanging in the shallows avoiding the heavy sediment currents. In fact, in a few places, you could actually here sand grating against the bottom of the boat as we drifted! Between three of us today we didn't hook a steelhead but did land a nice dolly varden. Though, I have to say, yesterday I hooked and landed a nice 10lb steelhead in the Sky and saw numerous fish swim upstream right by me as I stood there!
Good Fishing, Darin
