Some of the biggest silvers i get each year are when I'm trolling a clouser minnnow on my fly rod with a sink tip. I dont do this often as I prefer to cast and strip to them, but it seems to work great when the fish aren't bunched up and I need to search for them. Once near Duncan Rock, I was trolling a clouser and was just slamming big coho right around about 5 other boats trolling flashers without any luck. It was pretty funny to watch them troll closer and closer. One guy was literally following me about thirty feet off my port. I asked him if he just wanted to toss me a line and tie off to my boat so we could save gas.... he didn't think that was very funny, but I cracked myself up. I have also tied a clouser behind a flasher and had great success trolling that for silvers and pinks. You cannot go wrong with a chartreuse and white clouser.... you dont even need to put any pink in for the humpies. They hit mine just fine.
