When I lived across from the beach at the Mukilteo University (Muck U) at the bottom of Church St. in the mid 80's I would watch the steelhead nets for some Tulalip Indian friends who fished there in exchange for a fish or two when they pulled out the fish. When they discovered that I preferred hens for the eggs instead of the better-eating bucks they laughed and offered me all the eggs I wanted for free. At that time they were just throwing the eggs off the dock when the commercial guys cleaned the fish they landed. Now they throw in the fish and keep the more valuable eggs. Isn't it amazing how things change with economics?
