I think BB's fish weight calculator using a divisor of 775 was pretty close at 29 pounds. It is not unusual for a fish that size to lose 2 pounds in blood loss and dehydration in just a few hours, let alone the day after.

The variations in weight when two different fish have the same girth has a lot to do with what the cross-section of the fish looks like, especially the bucks. If it's a barrel chested, tide fresh wide-body (more circular midsection), it will weigh a lot more than a darkening fish that has slabbed up with a tall ridge back and skinny from side to side (more elliptical midsection).
