a 1141 is a great rod when used properly. It is rated for 4-8 lb line. I run 8 lb mainline, with 6-8 lb leaders. It is great for low water fishing when fish are leader shy. ex: summer, and low winter flows feb and march. I would not classify is as an all around rod, but more of a specialty rod. Hook size should be nothing bigger than a size 2 max, because you can't set a bigger hook. I mainly use size 4. Great for boondogging, and sidedrifting ( I think it was originally designed for fishing from boats on the Cow). The biggest fish I have landed on a 1141 was a 20 lb hactchery Steelie buck.

I also fish a 1143 rod, which is the perfect all around rod. 6-12 lb test, I have caught everything from steelhead to 35lb kings on mine. It has plenty of backbone, just make sure you match it with a quality reel. Both of these rods are custom Rainshadow rods made by myself, and my uncle.
