I searched the WDFW planting database and could find no evidence of an active squid stocking operation in Elliott Bay.

It is possible, however, that it escaped from a squid net pen from a squid aquaculture operation off the coast of Argentina...escapees have been known to travel great distances.

Unfortunately, however, I'd bet that it was a wild squid. The fact that it's legal to keep wild squid in no way affects the fact that it's just irresponsible to do so.

Oh, BTW, in the above picture from Sunday when Squid Sauk was about to pummel me with our fish bonker, he slipped on some ice and instead hit himself in the knee. Parker and I tied him to the middle seat and made him row all day.
