I like the SJR-720 for trout. GL-2 or IMX. I use this with jigs on the Missouri for up to 5# fish, and I like it for creek fishing. The fast action helps a good hookset. It's good for creek fishing because it has enough backbone to horse a small trout out of a hole if need be, so you don't have to give up your hiding spot and spook the other fish in the hole. I also like it because it's so versatile. Good for bass, crappie and trout. I use this rod a lot. More than all my others. I agree with the people that you can catch lots of trout with a inexpensive gear. Especially if you are still fishing worms, PB or eggs. Nice rods, however, make you more efficient with spinners and jigs. You can tell right away if your hook is screwed up or if you have weed on your lure, and can reel in and re-load. Saves you some time.
