Yes. That's the main rod I use when I fly dog...IE, training wheels. Sensitivity is not an issue with a float.

It is a heavy rod because it's so long, so you do get tired of fishing it all day.

It's a good casting float rod for steelhead and salmon. I like it over the 1143 for a float rod.
