I agree on the dart-type jigs - did really well at Neah Bay two weekends ago with those. An added bonus is that it's a salmon-catching lure as well. I've caught a few nice chinook off the edges of kelp beds while casting to black seabass.

Otherwise I like to use a leadhead with a worm/skirt and sweeten it with bait - bait comes/is eaten off you're still fishing.
