Summer Run-

The reel is a mooching reel which was originally designed in Canada. The Canadians have been trolling with reels like this for over 75 years, dating back to some of the first Mohagany Peetz Reels that were made in the mid Twenties up in Victoria. Can any of our brothers from the north comment any more on this?

The new Mooching reels have a very smooth drags, which allows a fish to turn and run without any sudden changes of drag resistance; they always pay out line smoothly. Have you ever had a levelwind lock up a bit on you? Combined with a 10' + mooching rod, it is very effective for consistantly keeping positive pressure on the fish.
My Rod is a NCR Custom made from a 1264 Rainshadow, crafted By Bruce Pearson, designed to my specs. with custom corkwork specifically for trollling with a mooching reel. It is one of a kind.

Most importantly, my hookup-to catch ratio is higher than most while using barbless hooks. I rarely lose fish with this setup.

W. Coyote from the board first turned me on to this setup two years ago. I bought a Daiwa Heartland rod and Daiwa M-One reel from Teds and loved it. Like the change from Skiing to Snowboarding, I was never going back. I now only use levelwinds in the salt for fishing blackmouth real deep or other larger species.

Try it, you'll like it!
