If your looking to catch fish this time of year I would go with a jig and pig. Your going to need to get down to where the fish are. When the water warms try a 1/4oz white spinerbait just ticking the weeds.

Rigging a weedless worm. Take the hook in hand and with the hook point parallel to the worm bury the hookpoint in the center of the wormhead (should look something like a U) go as deep as 1/4" or just past the barb. Slide the worm up the shaft of the hook just covering the eye of the hook. Then turn the hook 180 degrees (should now look like a P somewhat) Now pinch the worm at the bend of the hook this is where you stick the hook point thru, straighten worm out. You can then bury the hook point into the worm very lightly, kind of flush.
