Aunty, pointing out the change in you from what you were to what you are now is not a personal attack, unless you want to take it that way.
Anyone who may want to have a useful conversation with you, but is not a CCA bandwagoneer, will be immediately alienated by your attitude and anger. Don't call yourself a victim of personal attacks when you bring it upon yourself with nearly every post you've written in the past month.
Michael, I agree that typical management of our resources is on an "everything is just fine" to "Whoa! Stop the presses!", either/or basis for decades.
It's trying to find the balance in between where all the work needs to be done...slowing or stopping the declines in any species before they go from point A to point Z with no mention in between.
CnR is one of those balance points, if used correctly...more time can be spent fishing, more fish can be caught, and more fish can still make it to the spawning grounds than would have otherwise went there. Serves the dual purpose of increased quality opportunity along with more fish on the spawning grounds...a win-win situation, unless you can't fathom fishing without bonking.
The egg issue is responsible for a lot of the fish that are bonked by clients with their guides...because the client gets stuck eating a winter run steelhead (about a 2.5 on a scale of 10, beating out humpy, chum, and dolly on the "taste" scale), and the guide gets the eggs.
It's extra lame because one buck can spawn with multiple females, and the females are pretty much the only ones that can make a return spawning trip...selectively taking them makes it even worse.
Fish on...
Todd
