I remember at one time someone on this site was talking about a suggestion to shut down individual rivers for several years on an as needed basis to allow runs to recover. This would cause a lot of disagreement within the fishing circles as no-one would want "their" river to be the first one. I still think it would be a good idea in the long run if we are truely concerned with fish recovery. I think a prime example would be the fall fish on the Chehalis. Primarily the kings. But this would have to include the tribal netters. Maybe even offer them an alternative place to net those years to truely give the plan a chance to work. Just a thought.
