as far as that goes...i do a bit of speed reading...vocabualry is important just to know the meaning of the word in the context its in. When you speed read your looking at groups of words...your brain doesnt actually look specifically at the word...just the word as a whole or the sentence as a whole....hard to explain..i think Salmo g. can explain better than me. To read faster you actually have to "read less" so to speak. You skim over the words...your brain is so fast it puts the groups together to form comprehension ( sp?) instead of individual words. so there is a number of ways you can spell psychology and i would skip right over it and know that its the word "pyschology". so when i go to spell a little more of a complicated word that i dont spell often its hard ( i have a photographic memory) to recall how it was spelled the last time i read it. Or even the last ten or so times i have read it....i know somewhat of the letters invovled..i use some english language comprehension...to put it together...sometimes it works...sometimes it doesnt...some words i have read so much i can spell it wrong right off the bat..but then look at it and go " not right...." then adjust to what my photographic memory remembers skimming over alot. Words like pyschology are tough in that sense.

i dont speed read as fast as the "speed reader course" ...but with practice i can get darn close. it is very much about concentration. in an 8 hour session of reading a novel i can easily double my words per minute by the end of the book ( 700-800 pages) so i apologize if some words spelling elludes me.

Cool.
