I have done well with spinners on smaller streams when conditions are low and/or there is lots of fishing pressure. Sometimes they seem to want to see something different besides corkies. I either cast slightly upstream to let it sink before the blade starts to spin or I let out line and let it bounce along until I think it is in an area that holds fish before I start to reel and the blade starts to spin. This second way is a bit more dangerous as far as snagging up goes. I use the second method a little less even though its seems a bit more affective because I am cheap and hate to potentially lose expensive spinners. When I fish with spinners I cover a lot of water and just move from likely looking spot to likely looking spot. Not my go to method. But there is usually no mistaking a hit, even for me.
