Older models won't play all formats of DVD recordable discs. Third, what formats will your computer DVD player accept? Same problem as the DVD player. DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW all make a difference, so you may have a combination where the DVD you make in your camcorder is just not compatible with the players you tried.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with some helpful advice :P

Thanks for your highjack DiverX
The disc does play in the camcorder, and it's a "DVD-RW"..... I figger if was corrupt to begin with, then I shouldn't have been able to view my Spielberg-like film on the playback through the camcorder. I did plug it into the wall charger before I "finalized" it per the manual.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to be able to plug-n-play this thing on an occassional basis without edumacatin myself and messin with it more ahead of time!
