The treaty tribe fishermen are a lot like us. They want to catch their own salmon.

Personally, for resource protection reasons I favor having all Columbia River commercial salmon taken from traps retrofitted to the fishways at Bonneville, Willamette Falls, the Cowlitz, and Lewis. However the issue of who gets the fish and who profits from their harvest is not easily settled. As a society we ought to be able to settle it for our non-treaty commercial fishing brethren whether they like it or not. But the treaty tribes are legally free to exercise their rights as they see fit so long as they don't jeopardize the ESA listed fish.
