ND,

With all due respect to your son, Hohbomb is mostly correct. When corporations control our government, as all rational evidence indicates they do, then our military usually serves them. Your son's service in Afghanistan represents the defense of the US, as a retaliation against a direct attack against the US. However, your son's service in Iraq unfortunately didn't do anything to defend the US. The war in Iraq is a war of empire, initiated by an administration with an agenda far apart from national defense. No rational argument has yet been made that Iraq posed any real threat to the security of the US. Hence, we had no rational reason to attack.

What I think is pathetic in unexcusable is my cic who has put thousands of my fellow citizens in uniform in harm's way for purposes far removed from national defense. I appreciate the sacrifice your son and all his fellows in arms make on behalf of the US. I just happen to know better than to believe that what they've been sent to do in Iraq is somehow related to defending the security of the US. It's a travesty of justice and honor, and reason enough to be voting against the Republican Party in this national election.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
