"Sneaking" down gravel roads,isn't much test of a shoe and if that's your primary ploy,then the standard soled Xtra's are your huckleberry.

If/when you are of the mindset to get off the road,then superior footwear does come into play. Pounding flatland tundra isn't very demanding on footwear either,if only for more of the obvious reasons.

Such footwear will cost much in the way of available opportunity.
