Are you near an Englunds Marine? If so, grab a "Pescaro", 6'6" 30-80. They're about $44, and just to see what they'd take... the guys at the Newport store strapped one across the forks of a forklift, and proceeded to hang 300lbs of cannonballs off it... and it still didn't break. There's a pic on the wall.

If you're not close... a heavy Shakespear Tiger Rod will do ya, and they run about $59 at Fishermans, Dicks, etc..
