Oh my how short our memory is, or how young you are. All the wailing how bad things are, christ the recession of 57 was just as bad, 5 years after WWII even more so. Mess? Try Nam / riots and then the best of my lifetime..........stagflation. People loose houses they should have not purchased now, in the 70's most could not afford the double digit inflation and interest rates to even by a little place let alone what we build now. I am 62 and frankly the years in late 70's and the 4 years Mr. Carter was President with a economy in the tank and hostages in Iran nightly on TV gave ugly a whole new meaning.

The current President has had no free rides to be sure but he has yet to figure out how to lead. But worse mess, not no but hell no. About average for the American self imposed disasters we seem to have the ability to make.
