You can also go the cheap route and buy a used, battered AK-47.

100x more reliable and more accurate as long as you put on a longer stock. Main problem with AK's accuracy is the dinky little stock made for 13 year old conscripts. A longer stock fixes that. Plus with ANY AK variant ('cept the MAK-90) the world is awash in spare parts and you can switch out the trigger groups, sight blocks, muzzle breaks, furniture, sights, side rail scope mounts, guts, gas piston, springs, sear, etc etc etc. Any way you wish for only a few measly bucks.

You can even rivet on a side rail scope mount and add red-dots, night scopes and laser sights.

All you need to look at is barrel condition and major damage to the receiver. Anything else can be found online or at the Puyallup gunshow for cheap.

$250 vs $400 for a Mini-30 or $1000+ for the AR.

Plus you can treat it like complete schit and it will still work just fine.
