I remember 15 years or so ago I watched Nisqually members running a sled just below the Tank Crossing setting drift nets. They'd run the net across the entire river, let it drift down stream, while slapping the water with paddles to spook the fish into the net.

I drifted it one time in the mid 90s from the Tank Crossing to Handicap, but it's such a long drift and had so many woody hazards then that it didn't leave much time for fishing.
