Just got back from a week long fishing trip in BC. Fished lakes west of Quesnel and some others in the Williams Lake area.

Hot fly turned out to be a jumbo sized quasi- Carey Special that we created back in the late 80's. All the leech imitations I tied in March, April and May sorta "fizzled" and didn't get the reception I thought they would.

Counted 8 bears on the road into the first lake and one moose at a roadside pond. I thought that meant the place was lousy with bears, we'd see them every day, and have problems with them. Those 8 bears that first day were all we spotted.

Biggest fish was 23 1/2 inches and bit on a #14 shiny green beadhead chironimid fished under an indicator. I hooked two other ones similar in size but they ended up breaking me off as I was fishing my 3 wt and a skinnier tippet.
