Like DrifterWa I too learned to fish jigs while summerrun fishing. Back then, you never heard of anybody using a piece of bait on their jig. I believe the first time I ever tip a jig with bait was picking up Periwinkles and tipping my jig with those. Anybody else ever do that? How about the white wood grubs ya find in the firewood stack? How about a hunk of crawdad? Bumble Bee pattern jigs worked well too. Used to tie straight marabou in with my egg loop and drift fish it and do pretty good as well. Would ya tip a Popsicle Fly or flesh fly with bait? Hell no.
