Congrats to all involved starting with the WH, CIA and most importantly Seal Team 6!!!

Hopefully now it's understood that intelligence and Special Forces is how you defeat terrorism and not conventional war. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for killing folks who don't want to live free but only when we can afford it smile and right now we can't frown

I guess now we know why Gitmo and "enhanced interrogation techniques" are still running strong thumbs

I spent a memorable night getting three Special Forces guys good and drunk.

I met them at a Sonics game around 2003 or so and spotted them a mile away. Their politeness and civilian haircuts (Delta) was the first clue. Then I learned they where from New Jersey, New Orleans and America Samoa. And then the kid from New Orleans starts telling me he's a huge Cardinals fan and quizzing me about the previous year’s baseball season. Not only did he have no idea that the Cardinals had won the World Series but that Jack Buck had died so I knew for certain then that these three young hero's had been out of country for a loooooong time!

Now those who know me will never accuse me of being overly generous with my money so my friend with me that night was very surprised when I dragged three young strangers (the Sonics sucked after all) to the bar across the street, hand the bartender my credit card and tell him, "I expect these three to have a full drink in their hands all night." We drank until closing at which time a very stern faced Naval Officer in dress whites arrived to drive them back home. Home being a one night stay in a bunk on the Lincoln on their way to Ak for high altitude training.

I too was very glad to have spent one short evening with these incredible Americans. Now whenever I here someone complain about the "next generation" and how they suck I laugh my ass off! I think of those three often and hope they are all well!

And as it turns out Duke's picked up the bill for both me and the soldiers so our night of heavy drinking turned out well for me too! My bill had a handwritten note on it, “Good eye Brood. Tonight soldiers drink free!” Amen!!
