“Officer Jones spent a day working with S/A Dyer from NMFS regarding an excellent ESA steelhead case he made on the opening day of trout season. This case originated from Officer Jones following up on a hunch he had that someone might take advantage of our busy opening day “flag waving” duties and intentionally fish the closed Nooksack River. After fulfilling his opening day duties, Officer Jones’s hit the River to see what he could find and his hunch paid off. He apprehended a very deserving individual who violator who was intentionally fishing the closed season and admitted to catching and releasing a steelhead.
