Undoubtedly the status quo has not worked, and it does assure extinction at some point in the future...however, change just for the sake of change, is not necessarily an improvment...if there was a plan that would reduce the amount of ESA fish being killed in the fisheries, then we'd be at least starting in on the conservation front...until that happens, it's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

If we're just going to kill the same amount of ESA fish while prosecuting the fisheries, we may as well advocate for a way for sportfishermen to fish the most, catch the most, and spend the most money for our economy...

To do none of these things (improve conservation, economics, or sportfishing) while "winning" will be the most Pyrrhic "victories" in the history of the salmon wars on the Columbia River.
