Depends on flows really. I have a 74lb minn kota riptide that I use on the clack for side drifting on the cowlitz mainly. It allows me to be able to fish as well as my buddies which is nice. I've used it to motor back up holes that we wanted to hit a few times, even with two buddies up front and a boat full of gear. I just cut over to the soft water along the edges and motor up from there. If you're thinking the 101 will allow you to hit stretches like the blue creek hatchery drift and motor back up like the sleds do, it's probably not going to do you much better than the 74lb. will. Just like SZ said, batteries are very heavy, as are the 24volt and 36volt minn kotas! I can really feel the added weight of the motor and the two batteries in my boat. Really have to dig a lot harder than normal.

Food for thought anyway. Good luck on your search.
