Their are also Burbot (freshwater lings) in the lake. I have never seen one but talked to a old time years ago that fished for them with a trot line with smolts on the hooks. He said to put the line across a small deep bay and leave it over night. The burbot would school up and push the small baitfish into the bay and have dinner. I have only fished the far end from the camp grounds their are a lot of primitive camp sites. Now for the top secret tip. As the lake lowers and the water is no longer spilling over the spillway. This usually happens in later july or august. You will have to walk in to get to the dam walk all the way to the spillway and look down. You will see a big pool. Their is still enough water flowing thru to supply water to the river and lake easton. Anyway back to the big pool on the left side you can walk down the fence to the bottom. But on your favorite bait or flatfish and cast it out. Last time I was their IT was loaded with 14 to 20 inch trout all nice big rainbows. After a little fishing the trout will spook some. I usually walk down and fish the stream. Now the warning dont wear shorts you want long pants and a long sleave shirt. Dont set anything on the ground that you will have to touch the poision oak . I learned that one first hand or should I say hands . It only burned for 5 or 6 hours. I found this spot totally by luck just messin around. To get their take exit 70 off I-90. Cross back over highway then turn left follow to the dam dam road(kachees damn road). turn right You will see a yellow gate that is the access to the dam . I usally keep following the road up till you see the lake and camp along the lake. You will have to do a little exploring but if the lake is low enough you can drive the shore around the lake.
